Choosing Your Minute Format Follow
In CloudPunch, you have the flexibility to choose how the minutes display on your timecards and reports. This article walks through the available minute formats as well as the steps to update the minute format in the web portal. The minute format you select will impact how the timecards appear and how the total hours are calculated. Please note that all totals on timecards and reports are based on total minutes. There are three available minute formats:
Standard (00-59)
This is the most common and traditional minute format used in timekeeping systems. With the Standard format, minutes are displayed in two digits ranging from 00 to 59 (e.g., 8 hours and 30 minutes would appear as 8:30).
To manually convert the total from the standard format to decimal format, simply divide the minutes by 60 and add the result to the hours (e.g., 8:15 = 8 + 15/60 = 8.25).
Tenths (.0-.9)
This minute format displays minutes in increments of tenths, from .0 to .9. For example, if an employee worked 8 hours and 30 minutes, the total for the day will show as 8.5. If the employee worked 8 hours and 15 minutes one day and 8 hours and 30 minutes the next day, the total will show as 16.8 since 16 hours and 45 minutes is 16.75 and 16.75 rounded to the tenths place is 16.8.
Hundredths (.00-.99)
This minute format displays minutes in increments of hundredths, from .00 to .99. For example, if an employee worked 8 hours and 30 minutes, the total for the day will show as 8.50. If the employee worked 8 hours and 15 minutes one day and 8 hours and 30 minutes the next day, the total will show as 16.75.
